Welcome

Are you a man facing problems within yourself, at work, or in your relationships? Do you want things to be different? Then you will have to do things differently.

Sometimes we can resolve our problems by our own efforts, or with the support of friends and family. That is often the skillful choice. At other times, professional guidance is required. If you are looking for an experienced psychologist who is well informed, compassionate, practical and collaborative, consider working with me. I am ready to help you help yourself. Simply contact me and we can arrange a phone consultation without cost or obligation.

In addition to my private practice, I am a member of the clinical faculty at UCSF, where I teach medical students, residents and fellows.

Beyond my education and training, it is also my experience that I bring to my work. I have lived a full life. There has been joy and sorrow, achievement and loss. Over the years I have been married, divorced, and widowed. I am the proud father of two children, and have devoted myself to fatherhood with heart and soul – it’s been the single best thing in my life. I am also an omnivorous student of science, music, and mathematics, and have played jazz piano for over 40 years (you’d think I would sound better at this point, but it’s good enough to keep me playing!). I have made both skillful and unskillful choices in life, and learned from them as best I could. With persistence I continue growing as a person, reasonably content, with peace of mind, one day at a time.

Life is sometimes hard, but it is also beautiful…call or email if you have any questions. I wish you well!
